Love Note #14: Happy Valentine's Day!

Components of a memorable Valentine's Day:
- Finding a "bacon heart" in the skillet when I came down for breakfast. Thanks, honey!
- Telling Mike a special lunch would be ready when he got home at noon, and somehow pulling it off despite the odds stacked against me: a teething baby who wouldn't nap; missing ingredients requiring a quick run to the store; baby who needed to use the potty during my final fifteen minute stir/scoop/fry/drizzle/set table mad rush; artichokes, all the contents of a water bottle, spit-up, pee, and a spoonful of tomatoes spilled across the kitchen floor; and a cake that broke in half as I hurriedly flipped it to the cooling rack. I was just lighting the lantern and changing Pandora from Raffi to jazz as Mike opened the front door. Success!
- Two delectable new recipes that earned their entrance into my permanent collection: Spinach Fettuccine with Artichokes and Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Flourless Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Glaze
- An evening with our darling nieces while their mommy and daddy went out for supper. Three kids two and younger gave us a little taste of what my parents went through. Only their first three were even closer in age. Don't know how they did it!

Hope your day was just as sweet and memorable!

  1. Artichokes must really be the thing right now...we've been served more of them in the past month then ever before in the summary of my life.
